New Release: Project Templates

By Brian McHale

Core to being good at your job is knowing what parts of it can be streamlined to improve efficiency.

Often, this means you take any work with repeatable steps, map them into the correct order and automate them.

If a project can’t be fully automated, then next best thing is to create a process.

So for example, if you work in marketing and you need to manage the social media for your company, you can add all steps to an excel template and use this to guide you each time.

For those of us using Project Central to manage our projects, we’ve added Project Templates to help streamline how you work.

Why Use Project Templates?

Templates are a fantastic resource when you run multiple projects with similar steps.

Simply create your first project, save as template so when you need to create the next one, you can select it from the drop down.

Project Template

This update means you can:

  • Save a project as a template – when your project is set up, you can quickly save it for future use
  • Create new project from template – when you create a new project, choose the template that works for you
  • Customize the criteria to add to the project – select only the elements of the template that you want to include in the new project.

What’s coming next?

We’re still focusing on improving the way you manage your tasks, so the next release includes:

  • Gantt view: Use Gantt Charts to visualize and interact with your tasks in a project using a beautiful and interactive Gantt chart feature.

As always, we look forward to hearing your thoughts and feedback on Project Central.
