Add Multiple Tasks Quickly and Upload Files

By Brian McHale

Tasks are such an important part of project management, that we’ve spent the last few weeks improving the way that we manage them.

The way that we approach tasks in Project Central is quickly becoming very powerful. And our latest release gives you the ability to paste task names directly into a project, in bulk.

So what this means is you can simply copy a list of task names (from Excel worksheet or another project management tool) and paste them into Project Central.

We’ll automatically separate them and create an individual task for each.

Saving you the manual work and helping reduce time spent to get started on your project.

Upload a file to tasks and projects

Anyone managing a project knows that there are always plenty of files and documents resulting from it’s planning and execution.

What’s not always considered, is where do we store these documents?

Since Project Central is integrated with Office 365, you can easily upload the documents you’re working on directly to your account.

What’s more, you can now choose to upload the document to the project as a whole, or to a specific task.

Understandably, we need to keep project documents attached to the project.

So when we consider reasons to upload documents directly to a task, think of how much easier it is to share the relevant information with each team member for their task.

As a project manager, you can attach task-specific instructions or templates for your team member, making it easier to communicate your expectations.

Or team members can simply upload a finished document (such as a report from their SEO audit or an Excel spreadsheet they were working on) to the task, making it easier for you to find and access.

The best thing about our integration with Office 365 is that you keep a single source of truth for all project documents.

What new features are coming next?

We’re still keeping a focus on task management, so I wanted to give you a sneak peek at what’s coming up next.

Some of these great new features include:

  • Email notifications: Team members will be notified when core activities happen involving them such as; being added to a project, being assigned a task etc. as well as configuration for notifications
  • Project templates: Start your projects off on the right foot using a tried and tested project template
  • Gantt view: Use Gantt Charts to view tasks across your projects and make sure that everything lines up to be completed on time and in the correct order.

As always, we look forward to hearing your thoughts and feedback on Project Central. Email me at support@projectcentral.com and let me know how we’re doing.
